π When did you begin your musical journey?
AS: According to my mom, I've been singing since I was a toddler, and I started writing songs around age 5. My mom is a singer, and my dad a producer and emcee, so my childhood was overflowing with music. Early on, I knew how music made me feel, and how it affected those around me who either heard me sing or read my lyrics. I considered "traditional" careers and went to college for two years, determined to "do something with my life". The joke was on me because you cannot escape your purpose. In 2018 I made a 180-degree turn, left school, and decided to pursue what makes me happy! I started working with my brother, and the rest is history in the making.
π What does R&B mean to you?
AS: Growing up, we listened to all kinds of music, but prominently Hip Hop and R&B. I could see the way certain songs sparked so much passion in my parents, and they made sure to expose us to a broad spectrum of artists and albums. I remember hearing Mary J. Blige, Erykah Badu, Alica Keys, and Amerie, to name a few, and falling in love over and over again with the melodies and words they constructed. There is something so incredible about R&B, the way it can bring tears to your eyes, hype you up, make you feel powerful, and feel so many more emotions. I pay respect to those who came before all of us for setting the foundation on something that transcends time and style because it's given me a beautiful outlet of expression in a way nothing else can.
π Zodiac sign?
AS: Sun sign = Capricorn
Moon sign = Scorpio
Rising sign = Pisces
π Pick one R&B artist you will listen to for the rest of your life?
AS: This is a tough one, but H.E.R. takes the cake!
π Describe your sound in three words or less.
AS: Vulnerable, honest, chill
π What's next for you as an artist?
AS: I consider myself to be in the freshman stage of my career because I have so many things I'm working on and figuring out, but I'm patient with myself. I'd love to release an EP by the end of the year, and really showcase who I am as an artist and person. I'm so excited to meet fellow artists here in Orlando and become more emersed in the up-and-coming scene. There's a lot in store, so I hope you stay tuned!
