CAMP QUESTIONS
Q: What is CAMP?
Ans: Fusion and Co. host a recurring open mic, CAMP, which is an acronym for Comedy, Art, Music, and Poetry.
Q: How do I sign up to perform?
Ans: You can sign up online and pay for a slot or you can sign up at the door.
Q: Can I pick my performance time?
Ans: For CAMP, only those who have signed up online and paid for a performance slot can request a performance time upon check-in.
Q: How can I pay for a ticket?
Ans: We accept cash or cashapp transactions at the door. You can also purchase online before the event.
Q: How do I know what time I go on?
Ans: Because we sell pre-paid performance slots, it may be difficult to give an exact estimate. We make every effort to familiarize ourselves with each artist signing up and have them close to the stage when it’s almost their turn, but it helps if they stay in the vicinity so they can be ready to go when their name is called.
Q: How many songs can I perform?
Ans: You are allowed to perform one song, so make it count!
Q: Do I have to check in even when I pre-paid for a performance slot?
Ans: Absolutely! Checking in on arrival helps us ensure that we know you are present and that we have your requested time. You will not be able to perform if you
haven’t checked in.
Q: Who do I give my music to?
Ans: DJ Ayoo is our house DJ. He will usually be located on the stage and can receive the files via USB or airdrop. Please be sure what you are sending is correct to help him speed up the process and have your song prepared. Performing acapella (without music) is okay.
Q: Sign-up for open mic ended and I can’t sign up? Can I please talk to Jenn?
Ans: Jenn is busy, but she will tell you that sign-up has ended. Please, feel free to sign up online in advance to reserve a slot for our next CAMP event.
Q: Can I bring any instruments on stage?
Ans: The stage can accommodate smaller instruments that can be set up quickly, but you must bring your own amplifier and cables if needed. Larger instruments, like drums, wouldn’t be ideal as they will take a long time to set up and occupy a lot of space
Q: How many performers can be on stage at once?
Ans: We don’t limit how many performers are onstage at the same time, however, we typically only have up to three microphones at one time and your time will still only be for the duration of one song. Also be mindful that depending on the venue, the stage size could be smaller meaning there could be more wires or cords laying around.
Q: I purchased a promotional flyer but not a performance slot. Can I still perform?
Ans: If you signed up when you came into the venue you would be able to perform you just won’t be able to request a slot. The slots are limited and there are only a certain amount available online.
Q: Can I sign up for my friend? They’re almost here!
Ans: If they are not present at this time, they cannot be put on the list. We need to know what people look like so we can find them quickly before they are about to perform.
Q: I don’t want to perform anymore; can I cancel my slot and get my money back?
Ans: Unfortunately, all ticket sales are final. If you’re feeling nervous about performing, let us know, and we’ll try to help you in any way we can.
Q: Can people underage perform?
Ans: Yes! Fusion encourages performers of all ages to share their talents with us as long as the venue allows them entry.
*If you perform, CAMP also provides the opportunity to be nominated for a Fusion award.*
Showcase questions:
Q: How can I perform for a showcase?
Ans: Submit a professional portfolio or EPK to thefusionshowcase@gmail.com along with any links to your brands’ websites, streaming networks, social media accounts, references, etc. Performers will be selected and notified promptly. You can have a good chance of being selected if you perform at a CAMP event so we can get a better perspective of who you are and what you do.
Q: Can I use a smoke machine for my performance?
Ans: This depends heavily on which venue we are using. Some venues will have one available, others will prohibit their use of them.
Q: Can I create my own promotional flyers for the show?
Ans: We invest in our own promotional content that we expect any collaborators of the event to utilize. This helps us solidify our brand and bring more attention to the upcoming show. *Please let us know ahead of time if you’re unable to cooperate with this.*
Q: I have a feature/duet for one of my songs, and maybe some backup dancers as well. Would that be possible?
Ans: You have a lot of artistic freedom for your performance. We can accommodate extra microphones and any props you may need if it doesn’t disrupt our set stage design. All these things must be submitted 3 weeks in advance to prepare adequately. Anything mentioned to us on show-day will not be executed.
Q: Will there be a green room?
Ans: Yes! You have a space where you can get ready and relax before you go on. We also provide drinks and plenty of snacks. Let us know if you require something
specific.
Q: Am I required to sell tickets?
Ans: When you sign your contract with us, it states that you are required to sell a certain number of tickets to be able to participate in the event. If you are having a hard time selling them, let us know and we’ll do what we can to help you meet your goal.
Q: I have my own videographer coming out to record content, can I put them on the guest list?
Ans: You have a limited number of guests you can put on the list. If you choose a videographer, please note that they will not be allowed on the stage. We have our own contracted videographer, and you will receive said content within a week after the show.
Q: Can I decide when I perform?
Ans: We can consider when you want to perform but ultimately it will be determined by where Jenn feels the performers flow best.
Q: How often do I have to promote the event?
Ans: The number of times and dates will be specified in your contract but make the effort to do it every day.
Q: Can I use my pre-recorded tracks?
Ans: Pre-recorded tracks cannot be used. Vocals must be live!
Q: What happens if I miss soundcheck?
Ans: Soundcheck is essential to have a successful performance. If you miss it, you’re risking not having a satisfactory show.
