UCF graduate and music creator, Sashauna McKain, started a community fridge project called 'Everybdy Eats' located in Orlando, Fl. If you are new to the community fridge wave, it's a refrigerator placed in a public space. The project helps with food insecurity within the community. Sashauna discovered the idea from Twitter, noticing that there are many in Florida but not one in Orlando. Due to the nationwide pandemic and the rise of food shortages, this idea would be a great way to give back and help those in need.

Sashauna partnered up with local paint artist, Vonika Colas and the idea came to life. The community fridge made its finished debut on November 30, 2020. Everybdy Eats resides at the East End Market inside a little nook on the side of the building. It is dripped in colorful, smiling suns, giving a sense of cheer when you walk right up. The rules are pretty simple on who can give and take; hence the name EVERYBDY EATS. Everyone is welcome to donate and take whatever you need. There has been immense support since the fridge has been open by people donating food, money, and resources. Care packages are labeled with the address and are handed out to the homeless to help spread the word on where to get free food as well.

Everybdy Eats is not only a campaign to help food insecurity, but it is also a way to showcase local talent in the community! "It's a community fridge project but an art project as well. I really wanted to showcase the talent in Orlando, because there is literally so much talent here. To be able to use those talents to bring awareness to food insecurity is my biggest goal and main purpose." says Sashauna. Artists already have came to serenade the giving box and there are even more performances to happen in the future. You can checkout the talent on Instagram @Everybdy.Eats.

This fridge campaign is the start of something big for the Orlando community, and I am pleased to write about the first one. There will be more Everybdy Eats fridges being placed around the city of Orlando and a charity event is in the works. If you're looking to donate food you can go to the fridge and give (no home-cooked food please), or donate money through the everybody eats Cashapp and Venmo which will be listed below! Food insecurity is a serious matter and many families are unable to provide for their love ones. If you are blessed choose to be a blessing unto others and give what you can, it will do wonders for someone else and will always come back to you. Thank you :)
