Artist Boat Simms Speaks His Truth On EP 'Far From Perfect': EP Review by Jasmine

Rap artist and Duval native Boat Simms released EP Far From Perfect in 2021 as a subtle introduction to show he is the Best Of All Time (BOAT). Far From Perfect is a short listen with six songs equaling seventeen minutes. A perfect listen to get a feel for Boat and see how he is entering the music world. Boat Simms is no stranger to entertainment; he is a man that wears many hats as an event coordinator, sound engineer, photographer/videographer, etc. Boat has also opened up for well-known artists like J.Cole, Juicy J, and 2 Chainz! Ok, now we learned some history; let's get into this EP!

Boat Simms's sound is a sense of something new. I like to think his sound and the EP is a vibey feel; and give a mix of Rap and RnB.

"My sound is fresh, timeless, and captures the moment."  Boat says, "It's a compilation of sounds and emotions." My favorite from the EP is track #5 Reasons. It shows a different side of the artist as he gets a little personal and slows the vibe down as a love song with him being transparent with his dating life. Another star track would be; Take notes. Boat comes on the track speaking his thoughts on what's happening in his life. He states this track was a way for him to step out of his comfort zone and be free.

"My creative process is simple to me. I let the music tell me what it wants. Nothing forced. The inspiration for the EP was Covid deaths. It doesn’t have to be perfect, but it has to capture the essence of the emotional energy it's drawing from to convey sound."

Take a peek at this visual by the creator himself:

Far From Perfect is just the beginning of what Boat Simms is offering. The creator says new visuals and a new EP is coming soon through his production company. I can't wait to see the next move from Boat Simms! Check out his EP, Far From Perfect on all streaming platforms and keep up with him on IG @boatsimms.
